Livestock : LPS Corals : Black Sun Coral

Possible species: Tubastraea micrantha
Description: Azooxanthellate coral that extends large fleshy polyps to catch prey. Dark black/green branches with similarly coloured polyp tentacles.
Care: Prefers strong currents but independent of lighting conditions. Position where it is easy to feed and feed often at least twice per week and preferably daily. Effort should be taken to allow coral to consume thawed brine or mysis shrimp without pestering by hungry fish. Very limited propagation since 2002.
