Livestock : LPS Corals
A limited range of large-polyped stony (LPS) corals are propagated at Reef Encounters. These corals are grown with the same water chemistry conditions as the SPS corals but in separate vats with less intense lighting. At the risk of generalization, many LPS corals do best under less intense lighting and less water current than SPS species. The hobbyist should take this into account when combining SPS with LPS corals. VHO and PC lighting usually proves sufficient and actually produces rich coloring for LPS corals. In the wild these corals do not always come from the same region of the reef. Otherwise optimum conditions for LPS are the same as for SPS corals.
