The reef aquarium hobby has made huge advances in the last 5 to 10 years. For those of you new to the hobby, it may be surprising that as recently as the early 1990's success with many of today's popular and colorful small polyped stony (SPS) corals was the domain of only a few expert aquarists. We have come a long way in the last 10 years, but we're still hardly scratching the surface of the future potential of the hobby.

Reef Encounters will continue to test, evaluate, and report successful approaches that foster progress in the hobby. We are committed to understanding and communicating the principles that impact our aquaria and using this knowledge to further our success to the benefit of the animals that we maintain.
